Cori Stewart on making the most of a once-in-a-lifetime funding boost for Australian manufacturing.
Australian manufacturing and robotics sectors are poised to receive significant support from our governments. These are the messages we are receiving from our policy makers, Australian Industry Minister Ed Husic, and Assistant Minister for Manufacturing, Senator the Hon. Tim Ayres, who was at our third anniversary celebrations last month.
In an interview at the birthday celebrations, Senator Ayres said the government's agenda was to reindustrialise the Australian economy, to bring Australian jobs to our outer suburbs and regions, and to do it in a way that changes the lives of Australians.
While it is fantastic news for the sector, we must make sure we capitalise on this potentially once-in-a-lifetime funding boost.

For example, when Young Guns Container Crew reached out to us in early 2020, they were looking to create an Industry 4.0 solution to reduce downtime and mitigate safety risks. Since then, we have collaboratively developed a digital twin incorporating automation and robotics that identified productivity savings of 25 to 50 per cent, a multi-million dollar gain. The technology has helped transform a typically transient workforce into a highly engaged team of 1500 professionals in three countries.
This is a great example of how we are partnering with a business, whether it is a start-up or multi-national, on its journey toward digital transformation.
