Wisk Aero begins a New Chapter with Archer

Advanced air mobility has taken a major step forward as US-based Archer Aviation acquired Wisk Aero from Boeing this week. The acquisition came as part of a broader deal that includes drone maker Insitu and air traffic management software company SkyGrid. 

The announcement reflects the growing market demand for technologies creating safer, smarter and more sustainable transport from the ground up.  

Wisk has built a robust reputation for developing autonomous electric aircrafts designed to make everyday flight more accessible. Its self-flying electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi is designed to help passengers avoid traffic congestion while providing a safe, efficient and sustainable alternative for urban travel.

The company's focus on autonomous, all-electric flight has positioned its innovation at the forefront of the global advanced air mobility sector, and this acquisition further reinforces the competitiveness of its innovation. 

Since 2022, ARM Hub has housed Wisk's fifth-generation autonomous air taxi as part of the company's Southeast Queensland activities and future air mobility initiatives. In Queensland, Wisk has shaped conversations around autonomous passenger transport ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

The acquisition is expected to strengthen the sector by combining aircraft, autonomy and airspace management capabilities, helping accelerate the pathway to commercially viable urban air mobility services.
